Alternative Treatment to Healing

Clients often ask me how they can get the best out of their Craniosacral journey & how often they should come for therapy sessions; the answer to this is unique to each individual. I can ascertain a general idea from the initial consultation or case history, however it’s not until I lay my hands on you that I am able to listen in to how your body is choosing to express itself in each given session.

During your initial consultation we can discuss Block sessions or treatment plans. These are a wonderful investment for your future and present physical health and emotional well-being.  Regular Craniosacral sessions enables the consistency required to connect with  your own innate body wisdom through the process of gentle light touch that allows prioritised expression within.

We are complex beings and the deeper aspects of ourselves are often layered. The mind, body and spirit knows exactly how it needs to unfold. A slow and steady pace allows a safe and gentle space for you to move into the deeper aspects of certain somatic or deeply held physical elements.  Physical pain often masks repressed trauma or emotional pain, so although one session may well alleviate a physical symptom, these symptoms may keep manifesting if they are not gradually released on a cellular level.

In my professional experience, I have found that the best results take place within 6-8 weeks of weekly sessions*.  This gives time for your system to open up, relax and express what is being held within the physiological and anatomical elements of the body.  Tissue cells are able to breath and thus long held tensions can gradually be released. This can, and often does, start happening during the first session;  However, as mentioned the physical mental and emotional bodies are interlinked and it can take time through the unfolding process to ascertain where the core aspect may stem from and how your body creates coping mechanisms for holding stress

Holistic Healing

With Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. A Holistic approach to working with the mind, body and spirit.

Just like the dream catcher represents catching our unwanted dreams our bodies capture our unwanted emotion, feelings, traumas and so on.

From my perspective Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is about listening to the persons system as a whole and negotiating a safe space for the clients system to express, release, realign and reconnect to their own inner resources through stillness.

BCST stems from osteopathy; it works with the body as a whole integrated system thus incorporating  primary respiration, cranial rhythmic impulses, the nervous system, cerebrospinal fluid, muscle tissues, held trauma and the cranial bones to mention just a few. This is in order to achieve a therapy that can resonate within our many deeper layers. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is commonly seen as the spiritual approach to craniosacral therapy.

BCST offers a listening tool for the body just like counselling does for the individual. I often have clients who are either in talking therapy or have been previously. I explain to them that although BCST is not a talking therapy it does however offer the whole body the opportunity to be heard, listened to and nurtured. This allows for it to express, release and discharge whatever it feels necessary in each given session; whether that be physical, emotional or a spiritual release prioritised by the individuals system in each session.

To some that is a real release as often they are not aware, or able to state what or how they are affected by certain experiences. Sometimes talking about specific issues or trauma can be a point of triggering them back into the traumatic experience creating a loop in the autonomic nervous system .

If there is a resonance that holds in the relational field between practitioner and client then other forms of expressions can start to open up and be experienced (it is worth noting here that it is important to always set boundaries). This does not have to be a verbal agreement as it is already known in the energy fields of each individual, although it is important to be mindful about offering such insights, not everyone will want to hear them let alone resonate with such elements; as each session varies depending on what the clients system chooses to prioritise.

In my personal experience, once the body feels safe enough to express itself to the practitioner then a whole new world can open up. This may not be inline with conventional Biodynamic Craniosacral training as there wasn’t much focus around energy centres & chakras let alone other realms/dimensions and so on. However, what I did notice during training was that those of us who were already aware of/involved in energy work were seeing, hearing or sensing things that were not part of the course criteria. This wasn’t something we went looking for – it just happened.

This is not taking away from conventional Craniosacral sessions, it is merely highlighting that there are many different levels and layers that a persons system can express itself and find ways to release certain held memory in other less conventional ways too.

As I mentioned earlier, Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy stems from osteopathy, we work within the structures and physical anatomy of the body.

Innate Body Wisdom

Your body knows!

I have a special interest in this topic, the topic of our innate body wisdom. Our bodies are designed to form. Its really a case of each cell, each DNA molecule and so on all knowing what they are meant to be doing, they are working together to create homeostasis within the collective structure of the human anatomy and physiology.

How is it that the cell of an elbow knows to form into that as opposed to the cell of a knee for example? Do they have consciousness? Are they somehow talking to each other? To be honest it really doesn’t matter (unless something goes wrong of course!) they just know!!! Trillions of cells, atoms, DNA nucleus or whatever you want to refer to are in constant communication all of the time, they are all working together in conjunction with one anothers systems of the human body. So the endocrine and lymphatic and so on are working individually in their own system however they are also working collectively to support all the other systems.

out-of-order

I just love this, we are walking miracles, complete universes within universes. Often when illness/disease manifests into form within the physical body its a way for the whole system to inform us that something isn’t working/functioning at its optimum. For example this can be through the elimination process, often this can be skin related conditions as toxin/emotions are being released through a detoxification process. Sometimes this can also be through conditions such as high blood pressure, cholesterol and so on and can even manifest as stress!! Look at what you are taking into your body as this is what feeds you, its not just the food and drink we consume its our emotions, words, thoughts and so on. Be mindful what you are feeding yourself. We work as a unified field of function where everything impacts on everything else. This is why I LOVE Craniosacral Therapy, it works with the whole. Not just one or two but all of the elements of the human system, mind body and soul.

The human body viewed from a holistic point of view has its remarkable own innate healing ability. When symptoms occur its often the bodies way of letting us know that something isn’t right, often when we go and take prescribed medication it can suppress the very thing that is trying to eliminate itself, thus suppression the process. I am not saying that taking western medication is wrong, there is clearly a need for some people and I would always suggest consulting a medical professional if symptoms are causing concern. However its good to also recognise the body talks to us and sometimes its only way is by presenting certain symptoms to get our attention. In the end the choice is always down to the individual.
